About the role  

As the General Counsel in this global aviation business, you will be involved in a broad range of strategic and operational matters. 

Based in the city of Auckland, you will advise the Board on risk and governance issues and provide input on business planning and growth initiatives.  You will lead a team who are responsible for delivering timely and pragmatic legal advice to the business.  Together, you will work collaboratively with Divisional General Managers and other stakeholders to review and negotiate contracts,  oversee disputes, and implement risk mitigation strategies. 

In the highly regulated aviation industry, you will keep abreast of relevant laws, design and implement business improvement processes and facilitate training to ensure ongoing compliance with legal and regulatory obligations.    
 

What we’re looking for

• At least 10 years’ post-admission experience, with a current practising certificate
• Broad inhouse experience managing legal, commercial and regulatory risks, preferably in the aviation, transport, logistics or asset management industries 
• Outstanding communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
• Confident and commercially-savvy, results-focused and adaptable
