Our client is a large USA law firm which has an office in Tokyo that represents Japanese clients with overseas interests and international companies with commercial interests in Japan. Their multilingual, multicultural lawyers provide domestic and international clients with a broad offering of legal services. Job Description

  • Corporate M&A transactional working with corporate clients and financial institutions on a range of corporate projects, including outbound and inbound acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures and corporate restructurings.
  • Commercial projects (including employment law projects): there is a solid base of clients who give repeat instructions on a range of commercial projects, including drafting of commercial contracts, researching specific laws of different countries, and employment law related queries.
  • You will work closely with the corporate lawyer colleagues around the world.
  • Mixture of Japanese and international clients: the client base consists of an exciting mix of Japanese and international clients, which means that you must be well-attuned to different business cultures and service delivery expectations

Requirements

  • New Zealand or Australian Admitted and trained, stellar grades ess.
  • 2-8PQE
  • Strong legal knowledge and skills
  • Strong legal drafting skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships successfully
  • A professional attitude
  • A strong sense of responsibility
  • Solid organisational skills.
  • Appropriate corporate work experience
  • Japanese language skills required
